Financial Disclosure For The Stars Foundation (World Orphans Day Donations)
The Stars Foundation is a 501 (c )3 organization incorporated in the state of North Carolina. Our fiscal management company is the International Humanities Center based in Pacific Palisades, California.
We are governed by a responsible Board of Directors, the majority of whom are not staff members or their relatives. Our Board meets to establish policies, approve budgets and review operational results and accomplishments.
Our financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. We obtain an annual audit in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards by an independent public accounting firm, through the fiscal management office of the International Humanities Center. Copies of their current audited financial statements are available upon request. Our inactivity with IHC for 2008 and prior is not reflected in those statements.
Our fundraising appeals clearly identify the purpose and programs to which donations will be applied, and if a partnering organization is receiving a portion of the funds, that percentage of proceeds is clearly defined. Our board has directed that all contributions through the internet and the IHC financial management are not to exceed over 15% in administration and fundraising costs. IHC has a Guidestar rating.
Our national board has granted that a state by state Executive Council can be established with a State Chairman in conjunction with the contracted management group, Savannah Entertainment, which can oversee the funds for events in that state, until all invoices and due event management fees are paid out. The funds in those states will be monitored by Gerald Drye, CPA in Concord, NC as well as the registration and solicitation requirements for each state. Contributions to the ministry are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. In order to help our donors determine the tax deductible portion of their gifts, we receipt all donations showing the fair market value of any goods or services provided to the donor. In kind donations are also allowed fair market value receipts.
Out of respect for individuals’ privacy, we do not sell or rent our mailing list to other groups wishing to use the names and addresses of our supporters. We maintain tight security on our list of friends and supporters!
